The space
Steelhead fishing, bird watching, kayaking, and hiking world-class trails in the North Cascades, with trailheads at Rockport State park mere minutes from the farm.
This historic farmhouse has been restored to its full vintage charm, with a fireplace, original hardware, gorgeous built-ins, and the modern amenities of heat, air-conditioning, a dishwasher, and a hot tub.
This charming farmhouse is perfect for two to six adults with two bedrooms, each with a queen bed, and a queen sofa bed in the living room. There’s a trundle twin XL bed in the second bedroom with plenty of room in the summer months for tents in the backyard (or the cooler months for the hardcore adventurer and outdoorsmen).
The covered back deck or gazebo is the perfect spot to drink coffee and watch the herd of Scottish Highlander cattle in the field. Enjoy the firepit in the evening, there’s nothing but a wide open sky above it for full viewing of gorgeous sunsets and star gazing.
After a day of enjoying the mountain scenery and forests, relax in the hot tub. Then enjoy the electric fireplace with plenty of extra throw blankets and pillows for the ultimate cozy evening.
There is a fully equipped kitchen, a dining room that sits 6, and on the covered gazebo a propane BBQ and pellet smoker. Perfect to prepare the catch of the day.
During the season, you can request farm-fresh chicken or duck eggs (don’t worry, we don’t keep a rooster on the farm so no early crowing to disrupt your peaceful slumber).
In summer there is an herb and vegetable garden you can stroll through and a basket is provided for a small daily harvest.
If you’d like to join us at the farmstead headquarters (a 1/2 mile up the road from the farm stay) at milking time, you can see and help milk Clover, our Jersey/Holstein milk cow (arranged ahead of time).
The farm is located on a charming country road with fields, tree-lined sections, a slough, and river access, all within an easy stroll. Don’t be surprised if you see the beaver in the slough, bald eagles soaring above, and both deer and elk in the fields.
During your stay, you’ll have the yard and farmhouse to yourself (there is an option to reserve an RV spot in the driveway with water and power for extra guests, this is not rented out separately, so you’ll be the only guest on the farm). This is a working farm with cattle in the field, so you’ll see us feeding during the winter (and our welcome to help if you’d like) and occasionally working on fences or the barns in the other fields.
Because we have cattle and chickens on the property, we have a firm no-pet policy.
There is room in the driveway for snowmobile and boat trailers. We’re only 30 minutes from Newhalem, Ross Lake, Shannon Lake, and 40 minutes from Baker Lake.
Guest access
You’ll have the full yard and house to yourself. The other 39 acres house our adorable Scottish Highlander cattle. You’ll see us there feeding them in the winter months (and welcome to help if you’d like to experience it) and occasionally fixing fences and working in the barns.
